Key AI Updates

The past few weeks saw some interesting new updates in the world of GenAI and education, including new releases by Anthropic, OpenAI, and Figure Robotics and the disappearance of some great AI resources from the Office of Educational Technology.

We delve deeper into these topics in the video, but here are the TL:DR highlights:

  • Anthropic released Claude 3.7 Sonnet, a "hybrid reasoning model" that can show its thought processes and solve complex problems.

  • Anthropic also released Claude Code, a coding AI agent that can write and read code and run tests natively.

  • OpenAI released Deep Research to Plus users (I tested with a paper on the risks of Anthropomorphication of AI systems) and Advanced Voice Mode to free users.

  • Figure's Helix AI enables two robots to collaboratively perform household tasks by operating simultaneously with a single set of neural network weights.

  • The U.S. Office of Educational Technology had some terrific resources on AI and Education that can no longer be found on their website. We've made copies available on our website for those interested.

Things continue to move quickly, but we suggest building your capacity rather than trying to be an expert in all things GenAI.
